Professional Pet Groomers throughout the United States are now organizing to set guidelines and standards, much like lawyers and doctors do. We believe that the public is best served by groomers and business owners who work to educate themselves and demonstrate a level of skill and commitment to best practices.
So whether you attended a certified vocational grooming program, learned through a more traditional route of interning and apprenticing with more experienced groomers or are self-taught, we encourage all to continue working toward various industry certifications and proudly expand your portfolio.
Modern professional pet grooming provides a service that promotes the health and well-being of one’s pet. Regular grooming is recommended every 4 to 6 weeks to provide the following health benefits: Regular skin exfoliation reduces dander and shedding. All optimize the health of each Pet’s skin barrier allowing for temperature regulation and protection from the elements.
Proper complete brushing and tangle removal prevents hair breakage or follicle damage.
Healthier skin and coats allow for optimal barriers against environmental factors such as sun exposure and body temperature regulation.
Consistent nail trimming prevents long nails from causing arthritis or bone and ligament damage such as “splay foot”.
Routine physical inspection alerts clients to physical or temperamental changes that should be addressed with a veterinarian.
